Fight Allergies with Chiropractic Care
Do you struggle with allergies?
Is the beauty of spring faced with the dread of the oncoming allergy season?
As we all know allergy season is coming upon us fast, and along with the warmer weather comes all the yellow stuff. From ragweed, spores, grass and tree pollens, it is a busy time of year here at Kempsville Chiropractic as our patients battle Mother Nature. We see the signs and symptoms of the spring season already with itchy eyes, runny noses, scratchy throats, and sneezing. On top of the regular stresses in our daily lives, our immune system is now working double time dealing with all the allergens in the air. If we’re going to fight off allergies, now is the time our immune system needs to be running at its best!
Your Immune System Fights Allergies
Most people are not aware that the nervous system controls and coordinates all the systems as well as the functions of the body — unless they are a chiropractic patient of course — and that includes your immune system. Your body, particularly your immune system, has to constantly fight off foreign substances. Foreign substances called allergens are simply irritants that can cause inflammatory or histamine responses in the body even though they are not harmful. Your immune system is supposed to recognize the difference between harmful substances like viruses and bacteria, and non-harmful substances such as pollen and dust. When functioning properly your immune system creates protective proteins called antibodies to defend against the harmful foreign biological substances. When the immune system is not functioning properly it can detect non-harmful allergens in the body, believe they are harmful even though they aren't, and create those same antibodies unnecessarily. Antibodies are meant to attack and destroy harmful foreign substances, but when the immune system builds and defends itself with antibodies against non-harmful substances it causes those unnecessary allergic responses we call allergies. Sounds complicated, right? Well, it’s not for your nervous system, especially when it does not have any interference from subluxations or misalignments in the spine.
Subluxations or misalignments in the spine can cause interference in the nervous system. Subluxations, especially near the base of the head where the brain stem is located, can directly interfere with the immune system and the body’s ability to fight off sickness and properly control and coordinate all of the systems of the body. If there is interference in the nervous system’s ability to control the immune system, your body can over produce things like mucus that can build up and eventually cause sinus infections, upper respiratory infections, and even digestive discomfort.
Did you know that chiropractic care can help you deal with your allergies?
At Kempsville Chiropractic, our patients know that the best way to fight allergies during the allergy season is to have a properly functioning immune system. This means you need to make sure there is no interference within your nervous system. Chiropractic care, through its gentle adjustments, will find and eliminate any interference to your nervous system, enabling your body to do its best to fight off allergies.
